UK Surface Cylinder Testing Requirements
Under IDEST and UK legislation, surface-use cylinders must meet the following requirements:
Hydrostatic Testing (Hydro) – Required every 5 years. This involves pressurising the cylinder to confirm its structural strength and safety for continued use.
Surface Valve Fitted – All recreational surface-use cylinders must be fitted with a dedicated surface valve (not a scuba valve). This ensures compliance with UK regulations and correct connection to surface-use equipment.
